Norfolk FA - taking football forward in Norfolk
About Us - promoting local football

Adam Gusterson

NorfolkFA.com recently took some time to catch up with Adam Gusterson, our Small Sided Football Development Officer...

NCFA Adam, how long have you been working with Norfolk FA now?

AG About one and a half years now. I joined full-time in September 2008, but prior to this I was working as a part-time community coach for Norfolk FA as part of my previous job for about 6 months.

NCFA So what was it that made you want to work in football?

AG Football is something I am very passionate about. I enjoy the game and having a job here at the County FA is excellent as it allows me to have an impact on the game at a grassroots level.

NCFA Just remind us of your role & what it entails exactly?

AG I am the Small Sided Football Development Officer. My main responsibility is looking after our County 5IVES programme. County 5IVES is a small sided football competition open to adult males and currently we have 8 centres running across Norfolk. My role also includes sanctioning all small sided competitions and providing support to anyone in the county looking to get involved in or run small sided competitions.

NCFA So what do you enjoy most about your job?

AG I know is has been said before by other staff members but it is the people that you meet. It is nice to get to work with so many people involved in the local footballing community.

NCFA Do you follow a football team?

AG I do, Aston Villa and I have done since the days of Shaun Teale, Nigel Spink and Dalian Atkinson, when I was about 5!

NCFA Who do you fancy to win this summer's World Cup?

AG Spain... Sorry to disappoint but they are technically better than us and I do not see us as a better footballing nation. I sincerely hope I am wrong!

NCFA What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

AG I enjoy playing in the Ridgeons League for Dereham Town FC, I also enjoy spending time with my girlfriend and mates.
