Who should apply?
Before applying candidates will have passed the Level 2 Certificate and ideally had at least 12 months practical coaching experience. Candidates will also hold a valid FA Safeguarding Children Certificate (formerly known as Child Protection) and a HSE approved Emergency or First Aid certificate. It is strongly recommended that candidates possess a reasonable level of personal fitness, as the course requires a considerable amount of physical activity. Where possible candidates should be coaching 15+ age groups in order to practice the principles of the course fully.
What will I learn?
On completion of the Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Football candidates will be able to:
- Deliver coaching sessions encompassing functional practices, phases of play and 8v8 small sided games
- Establish potential performance benchmarks / indicators
- Establish players current and potential performance needs
- Establish and agree goals with the players and others
- Design a football coaching programme that meets the identified needs of the team and players
- Plan a detailed training cycle or phase associated with an aspect of the football coaching programme
- Plan an evaluation schedule for the football coaching programme
- Establish and maintain a safe coaching environment for players and others
- Establish and maintain supportive working relationships with players and others
- Manage the behaviour of players and others to ensure a safe and effective football coaching environment
- Prepare players for the coaching programme
- Deliver a football coaching programme
- Develop players performance within the coaching programme
- Monitor and evaluate players performance and development
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the coaching programme
- Monitor, evaluate and develop personal coaching practice
- Monitor, review and support the development of the coaching practice of others
How long will it take?
The course starts with 6 days initial training. You are then required to complete 16 hours of practical coaching, which will be recorded in a log book, before attending 2 further training continuation days. The final assessment will be completed over a weekend approximately 3-4 months after the initial training.

Currently there are no plans to run a course in 2010.
