The FA Welfare Officers Workshop

For the 2007/08 season Norfolk County Football Association requires all All Youth clubs (Under 18 and below) and all Adult clubs with a Youth section to appoint a designated Club Welfare Officer. This person is required to have applied for a FA CRB check through the FA CRB Unit before the Association’s affiliation of his/her club, or club affiliation to a league is accepted for the coming season.

In line with the above Membership rule for Club Welfare Officers every Youth league shall be required to appoint a League Welfare Officer prior to the Association’s sanction of the league. This person is required to have applied for a FA CRB check through the FA CRB Unit before sanction of the league is accepted for the coming season.

The CWO and YLWO will promote best practice throughout each club and each league playing a key role in dealing with poor practice concerns in line with the club or youth league’s own disciplinary process.

Who should enrol?
Club and Youth League Welfare Officers. All candidates must hold a valid FA Safeguarding Children in Football workshop (formerly The FA Child Protection and Best Practice certificate) and the FA CRB disclosure.  

What will I learn?
The workshop will aim to give you:
  • Ability to identify and describe what needs to be in place for youth/mini-soccer/girls clubs and leagues to be living best practice
  • Help to understand your role and responsibility and those of other designated persons within football
  • Advice on how to deal with concerns about poor practice or abuse
  • Ideas on areas that your club can develop in terms of safeguarding the young people and adults and deciding what happens next
