Soccer on the Sands

The prestigious Soccer on the Sands tournament is organised by Norfolk County FA, the Eastern Daily Press and the Norwich Evening News with event partners Great Yarmouth Borough Council and Active Norfolk. Soccer on the Sands is the largest youth beach football event in England, and allegedly Europe with 2008 being its 5th annual event.

Soccer on the Sands is themed on one of the 3 major footballing tournaments; the World Cup, the European Championships or the Champions League.

The 2007 event took place over the weekend of June 2 & 3, and it was the biggest yet with 128 teams taking part over the weekend. As in previous years it was held on Great Yarmouth's Central Beach with the Champions League being last year's tournament theme. Each team represented a club involved in last year’s Champions League with every player receiving their designated Champions League Club’s Soccer on the Sands t-shirt to wear, giving them the chance to be one their footballing heroes for the day.

The dates for this year have been confirmed as 31 May and 1 June 2008.

All of 2007 team’s managers should have received a Soccer on the Sands Euro 2008 flyer with competition now being open to any affiliated club wishing to enter a team into this year’s event.
