A brief history of the Norfolk Veterans Cup...

In recent seasons Veterans football has gone from strength to strength and as a result of this, Norfolk FA introduced the Norfolk Veterans Cup which was first competed for in the 2009-10 season. This makes it the second newest County Cup competition with only the Norfolk Women’s Cup being newer.

The inaugural season saw Norwich Trafford lift the trophy Norwich United's Plantation Park, with a 3-0 victory over fellow Norfolk & Suffolk Veterans League side, The Griffin.

The 2010-11 season saw Norwich Trafford retain the trophy but this time the score line was closer than the previous season as the holders edged past Sprowston Wanderers with a 2-1 victory. Trafford took the lead only to be pegged back by their Norfolk County FA Veterans League opponents, who levelled the game at 1-1. With the match looking destined for extra time Josh Barzey was on hand to turn the ball home and spark wild celebrations as he ensured that Trafford lifted the trophy for the second consecutive season.

In 2011-12 31 teams entered the competition, with 98 goals scored across 23 matches. Norwich Trafford made it a hat trick of wins by again defeating The Griffin, this time by a scoreline of 4-2.

2012-13 saw new name on the trophy, that of Quebec Veterans who lifted trophy in their first season as a Veterans' Club with a 4-0 victory against Long Stratton before Lynn North End ensured the trophy remained within the Norfolk Veterans League by defeating Scole United 6-0 in 2013-14. Lynn North End were victorious once again in 2015 although this time it was a much tighter match as they need penalties to beat Quebec with the final score 4-3.

2016 saw Horsford United reach their first final with Quebec reaching their third in four years. However Quebec couldn't make up for their defeat in the last final with Horsford winning the cup with a 2-1 win thanks to a last minute penalty. The 2016-17 season saw the fifth winner of the Cup as Cringleford Veterans beat Thetford Town after goals from Darren Huckerby, Matthew Metcalf and Rudi Hare.
