The qualification provides you with an opportunity to study and be assessed in both practical and theoretical aspects of coaching football for children and young people.
Who should apply?
Anyone over 16 years of age, who is looking for an introduction into coaching and who has an interest in developing the skills of young people.
What will I learn?
You will learn how to:
- Safely organise football activities such as Mini Soccer
- Promote relationships and high standards between players, coaches, parents and officials
- Understand different aspects of coaching children
- Adapt activities and sessions for different age groups
How long will it take?
The course will run over three and a half day sessions and one evening session. It comprises of:
- 8 hours of theory
- 8 hours of practical
- 3 hours FA Safeguarding Children in Football workshop
- 3 hours FA Emergency Aid workshop
- 8 hours of assessment (including a 15-minute practical assessment)
As part of the Level 1 course you will be required to complete an online Respect Module, prior to your assessment on the final day. The workshop is free and can be accessed through Members’ Services on this website. Candidates are required to attend all sessions of the course, however you may be exempt from repeating them if you have already attended The FA Safeguarding Children in Football workshop and The FA Emergency Aid workshop. In this scenario please send valid copies of your certificates to accompany your application form to Kate.Dixon@NorfolkFA.com. We are, however, unable to reduce the course fee. Unless you are exempt from these sessions please be aware that you must attend all sessions of the course in order to pass the Level 1 Award in Coaching Football.
How much does it cost?
£140 including VAT. Bursaries of £10 may be available to Charter Standard Clubs, payable on completion of the course. To claim your bursary please request and return an application form to County Headquarters.
