In our County we work in partnership with the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation (CSF), who employ a full time Disability Development Officer who, with Norfolk FA’s support, delivers the FA Disability Strategy.
CSF Disability Programme
Since 2003, CSF has been delivering sporting opportunities for children and adults with disabilities. The programme has grown from working with 700 participants in the first year. With further support from The Football League Trust, the Aviva Ability Counts programme has evolved significantly, with more than 3500 participants benefiting from various initiatives, some of which are listed below along with their representative squads.
- Pan-Disability Soccer Centre
- Down’s Syndrome Soccer Centre
- Power Wheelchair Soccer Centre
- Norfolk FA Under 16’s and Norwich City Adults Player Development Squads
- ‘CSF Canaries’ Down’s Syndrome Squad
- Norwich City Powerchair Football Club
All of CSF’s Aviva Ability Counts sessions are led by staff that are FA qualified, but also experienced and confident with people with all types of disabilities.To find out more about further opportunities and courses, you can visit the Disability Section on the CSF website.
Norfolk FA Under 16’s Representative Squad
For the 2012-13 season, Norfolk County FA will be hosting a FA Player Development Squad for advanced footballers with disabilities aged 12-16 years, with the hope of developing them as players to progress through to the National FA Disability Impairment SpecificCentre of Excellence squads.
The FA has several impairment specific teams, these being:
- Blind / Visually Impaired
- Cerebral Palsy
- Learning Disability
