The squad participates in the East Anglian Counties Competition, with five other counties from the Eastern Region competing in a league basis.
To represent your County is a considerable honour and the Norfolk squad is drawn from the many hundreds of teams competing all over the area. As expected the standard of football is very high and competition for places is healthy.
The Norfolk FA Representative management team hold trial and selection evenings for the squad in the summer and this is followed by at least one friendly match against local opposition to see the players as a unit. Furthermore, the management team visit as many games as possible to see the players compete in their own environment.
For many players moving into senior football from school representative and junior ranks, the transition can be very difficult. The reason is not because of their playing ability but in understanding that where the competition has always been from their peer age group in the past. For the Under 18’s, their time with us is very short and therefore encouraging the younger players and giving them a taste of representative level football alongside the more experienced players becomes increasingly important for future seasons.
Whatever this season brings we hope that everyone involved within the Norfolk FA Representative system enjoys their experience and represents the county of Norfolk with pride.
