Norfolk County Football Association is saddened to announce that our Chief Executive Shaun Turner has today tendered his resignation which has reluctantly been accepted by County Chairman, Michael Banham.
Michael said “It saddens me to have had to accept Shaun’s resignation, but I fully understand his reasons for doing so and on behalf of the Board of Directors we wish him all the success in his future career. We thank him for his eleven years as Norfolk FA’s Chief Executive which has seen him transform the Business into the exceptional County Association we are today.
His work with The FA as a member of Council and his latest position on the National Game Board was beginning to see dividends for Grassroots Football in Norfolk and across the Country. He will be sorely missed by all at Norfolk County FA and a loss to the national FA.”
Shaun said “My resignation is made with a heavy heart, but I feel that I have taken local football, and especially the traditional game, as far as I can and, because I care so deeply about the Association and the game in general, I feel now is the right time for new leadership and new energy.”
The process to find Shaun’s replacement will commence immediately with a Board Meeting scheduled to take place tonight, when further details will be discussed including a proposed recruitment timeline to start the process to find a suitable successor.
Shaun has agreed to stay in post until the end of July, by which time a successor will hopefully be in place.
