This Sunday sees Thetford Town Veterans make the trip to The Nest to face Horsford Veterans in The Leathes Prior Veterans League, Premiership.

Both teams will be donning rainbow laces for the fixture as part of the campaign set up by Stonewall, which Norfolk FA are also supporting alongside 11 of its affiliated Leagues. The leagues that are supporting the campaign are:

·         The Anglian Combination League

·         The Central & South Norfolk League

·         The Norfolk Christian league

·         The Norfolk Women’s & Girls League

·         The North West Norfolk League

·         The King’s Lynn & District Sunday League

·         The Norwich & District Sunday League

·         The Norfolk Combined Youth Football League

·         The Norfolk & Suffolk Youth League

·         The Leathes Prior Veterans League

·         The Mid Norfolk youth League

Horsford have started the season extremely well as they sit top of the division having a perfect 100% record. Their main source of goals has come in the form of Grant Holt who has scored 7 goals 3 appearances so far this season. Horsford will be hoping to carry on their fine form on Sunday.  

Thetford have been scoring freely in the league as they have tallied up 19 goals in only 4 matches. Their only loss in the league came away from home at a very strong Cringleford side where they only lost by one goal.

Matt Carpenter, Chairman of the Leathes Prior Veterans League said “We are excited to have a feature fixture in our League for what will hopefully be a great advert for veteran’s football as two of our top teams meet each other

Chris Brown, Chairman of Horsford FC talked of his excitement of the match: “We're delighted to be a feature match as part of the 2018 Rainbow Laces campaign. At Horsford FC, we are a club that is open to all and are fully inclusive and our Veterans will be sporting the rainbow laces provided by Stonewall, this Sunday.

“Norfolk Football is leading the way with the initiative and we should be proud in our efforts so far. The Veterans match this Sunday should be an exciting one, with the team looking to extend their lead at the top of the Leathes Prior Veterans League. Everyone is welcome to attend, and it's a great opportunity to visit The Nest for the first time!”
