Welcome to the sixth bulletin of the season where we will review the action over the last month.
 
Veterans League Review
 
Horsford maintained their winning streak with a 9-1 win at home to Silver Fox as they remained top of the Premiership table. Danny McKail and Grant Holt both scored braces with further goals from Roy Bevis, Paul Timm, Oliver Bennison, David Coyle and Paul Reeve. Quebec won their first game in three with a 1-0 win away at Cringleford. Kirk Bardsley scored the only goal of the game to move his side to within five points of the teams above them. Thetford came away from bottom side North Walsham with a 2-1 victory to remain in 2nd place. Scott Marketis was at the double which keeps his side six points behind runaway leaders Horsford. Tavern are just behind Thetford on goal difference after they also won away from home as they beat Attleborough 4-2. Stephen Jones scored a brace with further goals from Andrew Moody and Graham Barrett sealing their sixth win of the season. Martham won their fifth and sixth games of the season as they beat Scole 5-0. Bobby Burrage scored a hat trick for the home side as they remain top of the Championship table. Martham also won the return fixture by 4 goals to 1. Danny Gowing, Wayne Hunter, Gavin Lonergan and Lee Robinson were all on the scoresheet. Easton St Faiths beat Wymondham Town 5-0 to move off the bottom of the table. Kevin Thurston scored a hat trick with Matt Cartledge and Stephen Hobin adding further goals. Mulbarton won their fourth and fifth games with a 7-1 win against Mattishall Wanderers and a 4-2 win against Cottage. Ian Babb scored five against Mattishall with Paul Suggitt adding a further two. Babb also scored two against Cottage with Nick Appleton and Tom Halliwell scoring one apiece. Sheringham moved to the top of the League One table with a 4-1 win against Unthank Arms. Paul Winterbone was on the scoresheet with a brace with Gareth Sanderson and Ben Smith scoring one apiece. Sheringham are now a point clear after Sole & Heel went down by 4 goals to 2 at home to Cringleford Old Boys. John McCluskey scored a hat trick with Nigel Davis Smith completing the scoring. This win moves Cringleford up to 3rd after their fourth win of the season. Mundford and Costessey Sports played out a 2-2 draw to leave both teams in 4th and 6th place respectively. East Harling remain top in League Two with wins against Harts and Swaffham Town. Chris Bray scored eight across the two games to move his side three points clear. Micawbers Tavern also won two games as they beat both Hethersett and Necton. Shaun Hudson scored three times as they moved up to 3rd. Hethersett did win two games to lift themselves up to 2nd place and just three points behind East Harling. The side beat Necton 3-0 and Harts 7-1. Necton did end 2018 in style as they beat local rivals Swaffham by 4 goals to 1. Darren Naughton scored a brace with Paul Riches and James Chapman also on the mark. Y.B.V Costessey United won back to back games in the last month as they secured victories over Newsman Valhalla and Downham Town. Paul Cook and Thomas Gard both scored three goals across the two games to maintain their side’s position at the top of League Three. Downham did beat Erpingham United 2-1 as they stay 4th. Dean Gotsell and Mark Hunter were the scorers on the day. Morley secured four points across their two games with a 2-2 draw against Fakenham followed by a 2-1 win against Newsman Valhalla. Paul Bradford and Lee Brown were the pick of the scorers in the two games. Fakenham Town won by the biggest score line in the last month with a 13-0 win over Erpingham.
