BURSARIES FOR NEW REFEREES IN WEST NORFOLK

The RB Trucks North West Norfolk League have announced details of a bursary that they are offering to help support Norfolk County FA in addressing the shortage of Referees in West Norfolk.

With coverage in the League dropping below 80% for the first two months of the season, more Referees are needed in the area to help support the local game.

Norfolk FA are running a Referee’s Course at Alive LynnSport commencing on Friday 10th January 2020 and the League bursary will be available to anybody who completes the course and becomes fully qualified, providing they then Referee games in the RB Trucks North West Norfolk League.

Andrew Dix, Chairman of the League said: “The League are really keen to support Norfolk FA in recruiting new Referees in the area and we hope that our bursary will encourage people to pick up the whistle and give refereeing a go.

"We will offer anyone that completes the course £25 once they have officiated on five games in our League and a further £50 once they complete ten games on the League within a one year period.”

Matt Carpenter, Football Services Manager at Norfolk FA said: “It is great the see the League providing really positive support to Refereeing in West Norfolk by offering a generous bursary to new referees who complete our forthcoming course. This bursary is in addition to the other offers we already have in place of a 50% discount for female referees and a 50% discount for anybody over the age of 19 who lives in Norfolk and is not in full time education.

"This means that if somebody meets our criteria for a discount and referees enough games in the North West Norfolk League they effectively get the course for free whilst of course earning money through match fees.”

As well as the course at King’s Lynn, Norfolk FA are also running a course at TheFDC in Norwich starting on Friday 17th January with the same offers in place.
