WROXHAM LIFT THE NORFOLK U12’S CUP

With less than a minute on the clock the deadlock was broken through KLSC frontman, Lennon Mortimer. After picking up a loose ball on the edge of the Wroxham box, he drove forward and fired home across goal into the far right corner.

As the 10  minute mark was approached, the fast intensity to the game was yet to stop. Brilliant challenges were coming in from both sides with KLSC defender, Ralph Neale, making multiple sliding tackles to frustrate Wroxham winger, Morgan Leeder.

Despite an amazing one-on-one save earlier in the half from Jack Nash to deny Leeder, he could do nothing about the Wroxham equaliser. A cross from Charlie Palmer on the Wroxham left found the chest of Tyler Kelly who touched the ball down into the path of his teammate, Alfie Reeve. Reeve’s initial effort was saved once again by Nash, but the rebound fell kindly for Reeve who smashed home into an empty net.

Wroxham took the lead just after 20 minutes when another cross into the KLSC box, this time from Leo Fox, found Kelly in space and he hit bar with a powerful strike. Palmer was on hand to header in the rebound to give his side the lead.

In the one minute of added time, KLSC had a penalty shout after some skilful quick feet from Joe Halfhide appeared to draw a foul in the penalty area, but referee Jack Wicks waved for play to continue to the frustration of the KLSC players.

Half time – KLSC 1 – 2 Wroxham

With less than 20 seconds played in the second period, a skilful forward run from Halfhide and a shot from distance called Wroxham goalkeeper, Archie Hannent, into action. A athletic jump allowed Hannent to tip the ball just over the crossbar and ensure his side kept their slender lead.

A perfectly weighted diagonal ball from Fox found the feet of Palmer at the far post. Palmer’s first touch set the ball perfectly for a shot from a tight angle on the left and he got his second of the game with a low driven effort at the near post.

The Yachtsmen got their fourth halfway through the second half when Leeder chased what appeared to be a lost cause, but he reached the ball just before it went behind for a KLSC goal kick. His first time cross found Reeve in the middle who skilfully turned his marker and slotted the ball past Nash into the back of the net.

Despite continued hard work from every KLSC player, Wroxham controlled the rest of the game to make them the Norfolk U12’s Cup winners 2020-21, in association with 4Trophies.

Final Score: KLSC 1 – 4 Wroxham
