NCFA Referee Education

Members of the NCFA Referee department have been educating aspiring officials throughout Norfolk by delivering Laws of the Game Courses and Assistant

Norfolk FA Referee tutors have been hard at work spreading the word on the Laws of the Game and expanding football knowledge throughout the County.

Two Assistant Referee Workshops have been delivered in various locations around Norfolk to FA Charter Standard Club Members. Over 30 people have already attended with a further evening to come on the 3rd of November in King’s Lynn.

The Workshop is a two hour session which focuses on the Laws applicable to Assistant Referees and shows how a Club assistant can greatly improve the quality of a game, not just for the Referee, but for the players involved too.

FA Licensed Referee Tutor Barry Knight has been educating youngsters from the Iceni Academy in Methwold. Ten students successfully passed their Laws of the Game Course which was spread over two late afternoon sessions. The revamped course will be available to Schools, colleges, leagues and clubs next year and is an ideal way to promote understanding of football refereeing.

Barry also hosted a Mini-Soccer Referees Course for the Mid-Norfolk Youth League. The ten students who attended and passed the course can be seen pictured above along with Paul Taylor, a representative of the league.

Further information regarding Refereeing courses in Mini-Soccer and Futsal will be available soon, but if you are interested in becoming a football Referee there is one last opportunity in 2014.

There are limited places available for the Basic Referees Course which Referee Development Officer David Robinson and FA Licensed Referee Tutor Shon Meale will be hosting at The FDC in Bowthorpe on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th October. The course will consist of two full days of tutoring plus an examination.

If you are over 19, not currently in full time education and a resident in Norfolk, you can obtain a 50% discount off the cost of this course.
