Girls Small Sided U18s First Fixture Review

Earlier this month saw 16 secondary school/colleges from across Norfolk take part in the 2015/16 Norfolk FA Girls’ Small Sided Programme at their desi

Secondary schools and colleges located in the East of the county play their round robin fixtures at Lynn Grove Academy, those based central to Norwich play at the Football Development Centre (FDC) and those in the West of the county at Lynn Sport.

Slight changes and improvements have been made to the Norfolk FA Girls’ Small Sided Programme, with it being in its fourth season.  One difference is the change of age groups; this season will consist of U13, U15 and U18’s.  The importance of branching out to the college and sixth forms to capture the female students after school life and to continue offering them a football provision has really been justified within these first fixture dates.  Along with this change, qualified referees are being appointed to these U18 fixtures to ensure the standards are raised, rules remain consistent across the board and the U18 players are in good hands!

The live league table has been updated for the U18 age group from the first round of fixtures, and you can find that by clicking here.

You will see that goal difference and score lines are not shown on this website, this is due to the fact this programme is heavily based on a participation ethos and the score line doesn’t come in to play only until when the winner and runner up of each league has to be announced.

Norfolk County FA’s Football Development Officer, Stacey Annison is especially pleased with how the first U18 fixture dates at each central venue has gone.  She went on to say, “I’ve now seen first-hand, how important this U18 age group is, seeing players again after a year or two of them being absent from the programme has really added value to it.  To get these young ladies playing again and supporting the transition from school to college is fantastic!”

The next fixture date for these teams will be towards the end of November and we are hoping to see all 21 U18 teams participating.
