The Girls' Small Sided Programme is back with a bang!

Secondary schools from across Norfolk have got straight back into playing in the Girls’ Small Sided Programme this month, with the U13’s age group kic

U13 January Overview:

All the U13’s would have been waiting since September for these fixtures, and we could certainly tell!  They all arrived at each venue really enthusiastic to get started, scoring goals and playing football with their friends under floodlights and on some of the best facilities in Norfolk.

First up was the FDC, which had a great turn out from the schools given that it was there second day back at school. In total, we had 15 out of the 20 teams playing their first fixture round.  The following week, we headed over to Thorpe High, another U13 venue, where we had almost a full house, 10 out of the possible 11 teams participating.

Next up was the Lynn Grove venue, with all 10 teams attending and despite the freezing cold weather, the atmosphere was still very much buzzing and the girls seemed to enjoy every second of it.  Last but not least, Lynn Sport was the final central venue to host the first round of U13 fixtures, 6 out of 7 teams playing, the girls were faced with blustery winds but it didn’t seem to faze them at all!

For the U13’s age group, the fixtures heavily rely upon the sport leaders provided by the host venues and the schools that attend to officiate, they have all done a sterling job and without them the girls would not have been able to play.

U18 January Overview:

January was when the competition really heated up for the U18’s, it was the last round of fixtures that they’d be playing until the inter-county finals in February, therefore, the last chance for them to get as many points on the league table as possible.

Only the top two teams from each central venue along with the top two third placed teams would be going through to the Champions League Final and the rest of the teams would be battling it out for the Europa League title. There were some fantastic results and some of which saw them crawl to the Champions League qualifying position!

Unfortunately, due to a clash of exams and injuries, the Lynn Sport league couldn’t go ahead as schools were unable to field a team.

Congratulations to the teams that have qualified for the Champions League Final and also to the teams in the Europa League.  Fingers crossed that we can have all U18 teams attend the finals to create an inter-county final on Wednesday 24 February at the FDC.

The U15’s will be back in action in February after a long festive break, first central venue to get started is the FDC with hopefully all 18 teams attending!
