FA Groundsman of the Year Awards open for nominations

The FA, in conjunction with all County FA's, are again running the prestigious FA Groundsman of the Year Awards for the 2017-18 season, for all...

Our local awards are known as the Peter Smith Groundsman of the Year Awards in memory of our former FDC Groundsman Peter, this recognition goes a small way in trying to ensure Peter’s memory lives on in the grassroots game for many seasons to come.

A judging panel selected by Norfolk County Football Association will visit all nominees in February 2018 (dates tbc) and decide on a first, second and third placing, which will be submitted to The Football Association.

The first placed Club will then undergo independent national judging against other clubs across the Country. This will be lead nationally from The FA with the judging likely to take place during April 2018.

Each participating club must nominate a Groundsman who is a member of the club in order to be included in the competition, however they can be in a paid capacity, for example employed by Parish Council. The judges will use their discretion to score the Club Groundsman based on their individual contribution and ambition to improve the pitch.

All completed nominations must be returned either via emailing Ian.Grange@NorfolkFA.com or via post to the County Headquarters by Friday 9 February 2018 at the very latest.

So has your Groundsman got what it takes?

To apply, download & complete the nomination form and let’s reward these unsung heroes for all the hard work which is carried out during the season!
