Wroxham currently compete in the Premier Division of the Eastern Region Women’s Football League. Sat in fifth place on 36 points, they have had a successful season with 12 wins and nine losses. Due to exceptions, their cup campaign commenced in the Quarter-Finals where they eased to a comfortable 7-0 victory over Caister. It was then a 6-0 win over Fakenham Town that secured their place in the final.

When asked how it feels to reach the final, Wroxham manager, Adam Race said: “This is a milestone that the squad can take huge pride in, and it’s a well overdue visit to Carrow Road for a club as big as Wroxham. We’ve suffered cup upsets in previous years, and we made it a priority to play every County Cup fixture as though it’s the final this season.”

For regional competing team, Norwich City, there has been an increased following in their home and away fixtures. The games held at Carrow Road for the team have proved as monumental occasions that have displayed just how far the female game has progressed. In their most recent tie at the stadium, an FAWNL Division One South East fixture against QPR Women, a huge 5,941 supporters were in attendance.

Norwich City compete in The FA Women’s National League, Division One South East and sit second on 49 points. Also starting their cup run in the Quarter-Final, it was Dussindale & Hellesdon Rovers who they first knocked out with a 7-0 win. The same success was repeated in the Semi-Final against Mulbarton Wanderers when another 7-0 victory allowed them to enter the final.

When speaking about what reaching the final meant to him, Norwich City Manager, Scott Emerson said: “Reaching the cup final means everything to the girls, they love the opportunity to play at Carrow Road and to be in a County Cup final to show why you could be the best team in the county is massive for us to showcase our talent.”
