#NCFAgamedayLIVE: AFC Walpole v AFC Lynn - MATCH REPORT

AFC Walpole progressed into the Norfolk Primary Cup 3rd Round after a clinical 2-1 performance over AFC Lynn Reserves at the Thomas Clarkson...

After lots of voting on our Twitter page, it was this fixture that was selected to receive our first ever #NCFAgamedayLIVE coverage, and we were treated to a goal inside the opening eight minutes. A forward ball from an AFC Walpole striker was hesitantly intercepted by the AFC Lynn Reserves defender, with Walpole winger Micah Baxter picking up the pieces, taking it round the defender and unleashing a shot that nestled in the top left hand corner to give the Honey Badgers the lead.

Walpole almost double their lead shortly after, with Jake Miller wriggling away from his defender, but his near post effort was parried away by Lynn goalkeeper Ben Ellis.

AFC Lynn grew into the game the longer the first half went on however, and their pressure paid off with Walpole conceding a sloppy foul on the edge of their own area, and Jamie Burgess made them pay by curling a wonderful free-kick into the top right corner just after the half-hour mark. Two excellent opening goals from both sides as they began to push to go in front.

HALF TIME: AFC Walpole 1-1 AFC Lynn Reserves

It was a quick start to the second half, with Walpole smacking the upright and Lynn missing a golden opportunity to take the lead. A set-piece was deflected by the wall to the far post, which was hooked back into the box towards Dan Overton who had a free header six-yards out but could only find the goalkeepers’ hands.

AFC Lynn continued to press however the wind was thoroughly against them. A long throw into the Lynn penalty area was headed upwards, and the back-tracking defender looked to get his head on it however he could only direct it backwards towards his own goal and just wide of the post.

Both sides looked dangerous from set-pieces and were loading the ball into the box with the hope of finding a winner. A cheap foul on a AFC Walpole player just inside the Lynn half was floated in towards substitute Jake Hopkisson who thumped his header just beneath the crossbar to knock-out their opponents and send Walpole into the next round!
