Welcome to the twelfth bulletin of the 2017-18 season. As always let’s start with the review of each division with 13 games to look at.

Veterans League Review

Cringleford remain 5 points clear at the top of the Premiership with a 7-2 win at Attleborough Town. All 7 goals were shared between Rudi Hare, Darren Huckerby, Karl Izzard, John McCluskey, Matthew Metcalf and Paul Watts. Jon Fitzgerald did score a brace but it wasn’t enough as they remain in 6th place. Horsford were on the right side of an 8 goal thriller as they beat Mulbarton Wanderers 5-3. David Coyle scored a brace with Alan Rudder, Steven Tidy and Daniel Keeley all getting on the scoresheet. Horsford remain in 3rd place whilst Mulbarton stay 7th. Tavern bounced back from their defeat at Cringleford with a 5-1 win at home to Taverham. Andrew Moody scored twice with Troy Bond, Gareth King and Graham Barrett completing the scoring. Thetford Town moved one win away from securing the Championship title as they beat Unthank Arms 4-2. Morgan Crane, Robert Johnson, Darren Kirk and David Stocks all scored one each to register their team’s fourth consecutive win. Wymondham Town kept up their recent good form to move into 2nd place with a 6-1 win away at Wensum Albion. Wensum Albion remain 4 points adrift at the bottom of the table with just 2 games remaining. Roy Bevis scored 4 as Easton St Faiths beat Scole United 5-0. Easton move up to 3rd place in the table and now face Wymondham Town in the next round of fixtures in a huge fixture at King’s Head Meadow. In the big game at the top of League One, Cottage and Mattishall Wanderers played out a 2-2 draw which still leaves Mattishall in pole position to finish top of the table with 3 games in hand on Cottage. Gavin Bland and Scott West were the goalscorers for Mattishall with Osa Odeh and Ian Whalebelly scoring for Cottage. Mundford Exiles won 3-2 in the battle of the bottom two as Mundford move 6 points clear of Harts. Andrew Ashby scored a hattrick for Necton as they secured a 6-4 win against Costessey Sports. Necton remain 6th but move 6 points clear of bottom side Harts. Cringleford Old Boys and Swaffham Town played out a 0-0 draw which leaves Cringleford 7 points behind Cottage in 2nd place. Congratulations to Sheringham who secured the League Two title with a thumping 11-2 win at home to Micawbers Tavern. Jason Thurbon scored a hattrick, Jeffrey Meggeson and Gareth Sanderson scored braces with Simon Robinson, Leigh Wells, Eddie Hammond and Kristian Gleave all scoring one each. Hethersett Athletic have moved into 2nd place with a 2-1 win at home to Morley & Deopham. Morley & Deopham drop to 5th with 3 points separating 2nd and 5th place. East Harling won comfortably at home to Newsman Valhalla 6-0. Ben Morgan, Andrew Morris and Chris Bray were amongst the goals as they secured their 3rd win in a row.   • Premiership – Darren Huckerby – Cringleford Veterans – 15 goals in 9 games.
  • Championship – Colm McGilway – North Walsham Town – 16 goals in 10 games. Roy Bevis – Easton St Faiths – 16 goals in 5 games.
  • League One – Andrew Ashby – Necton – 14 goals in 7 games.
  • League Two – Paul Massingham – Sheringham – 14 goals in 7 games.
Outstanding Fixtures
 
We currently have 5 fixtures outstanding without a scheduled date and with the season rapidly drawing to a close these games need a fixed date. Therefore please could you contact the teams that involve your team and arrange a date by next Friday 20th April. If you are unable to do this then the league will set a date for the remaining fixtures. The remaining fixtures can be found here.
 
Returning Of Trophies
 
Please could the trophy holders of each division please return their trophy to us by the end of April so that we can then present to the new division winners.
