Primary Cup Final 2018 Preview
This year’s
Norfolk Primary Cup will be contested between Celt Rangers FC and Gayton United
Reserves FC at the FDC, Field of Dreams on Friday 13th April (KO
7:30pm).
Celt Rangers are a resilient side, holding the top spot in
the Lowestoft and District League. They’ve maintained a near immaculate season
record by winning 18 out of their 19 games in the league. During this league season
they currently hold a goal difference of 127, in which they have scored 136 and
only conceded 9 goals in total.
This dominance has not been as prominent in the cup, possibly
due to the fact that two out of their five wins were by walkover. Nonetheless
they were able to maintain their form as they cruised past AFC Walpole with a
solid 4-1 win in the Semi-Final.
Mid table Gayton Reserves have fought valiantly to reach the
final of this year’s Norfolk Primary Cup. Gayton currently hold 8th position
in the Anglian Combination League division 4 with a decent season record of 11
wins, 2 draws, and 8 defeats. Similarly to Celt Rangers, two of their wins in
the cup were both by walkover. But in contrast to their opponents, Gayton
Reserves came out on top with a narrow 1-0 win over Tugas United away from home
in the Semi-Final.
Judging by both of the team’s current form it is hard to
predict what the final score will be. Gayton Reserves are yet to concede a goal
in the cup despite their -2 goal difference in the league, but they’ve shown
that they can be a tough team to score against. However it is needless to say
that Celt Rangers have displayed their attacking prowess on more than one
occasion.
Let’s hope for a fantastic game of football!
