Women's County Cup Preview
In this year’s
Norfolk Women’s Cup Final, Wymondham Town FC take on Acle United FC at the
FDC, Field Of Dreams. 7:30PM.
The Norfolk Women’s Cup is the newest of the nine Norfolk
County Cup competitions, having been first competed for in 2010-11 in place of
the Norfolk & Suffolk Women’s Cup, which had run for the previous 12 years.
The new trophy was kindly donated by Norfolk County FA Life President, Ray
Kiddell OBE.
Acle United FC began their cup run with a bye but quickly
picked up momentum in the second round of the cup when they faced Gorleston FC
, a comfortable 7-0 was enough to take them into the quarter finals, in which they
won by an away walkover. They eventually reached this year’s final after
defeating King’s Lynn FC 2-1 away from home. It will be Acle’s third County Cup
final, this time against Wymondham Town.
Wymondham Town FC will be going into this year’s final with confidence; they began their cup run with a 3-1 win over Thorpe
United FC. They continued playing with flair in the second round of the
Women’s Cup when they breezed past Stalham Town FC. In
the quarter finals they beat Fakenham Town FC 15 goals to zero, this saw them
through to the semi-finals which they comfortably won 7-0 against Sprowston FC.
