Leathes Prior Veterans League Bulletin - Matchday 5

Take a look at all the results from the fourth round of fixtures.

Welcome to the fifth bulletin of the season where we will review the action over the last month.

Veterans League Review

Horsford have won back to back games in the last month against Thetford Town and North Walsham Town. Roy Bevis was on the scoresheet three times along with Tony D’eath who scored a hattrick against North Walsham Town. Tavern Old Boys also had a perfect month with impressive victories over Quebec and Cringleford. Graham Barrett scored twice as well as Ricky Forder as they move up to second. Thetford Town are third in the table with a 6-4 win away at Quebec Vets. Darren Kirk and Scott Marketis were both on the scoresheet with braces for Thetford whilst Matt Racher scored three times for Quebec. Martham continue to lead the way in the Championship with a win against Mattishall Wanderers by 4 goals to 2. Gavin Lonergan was the pick of the scorers for Martham. Mulbarton made it three wins from three as they beat Easton St Faiths 4-0. Ian Babb was on the scoresheet twice. Scole United and the Cottage both recorded victories to sit in third and fourth respectively. Sole & Heel remain top of the League One table after a 3-1 win at home to Wensum Albion. Martin Addison and Martin Clarke were the pick of the scorers for Sole & Heel. Sheringham recorded back to back wins against Wensum Albion and Cringleford. Gareth Sanderson scored three times to move his side to second. East Harling remain top in League Two with another win as they beat Hethersett Athletic 5-3. Andrew Morris scored a hattrick with further goals from David Closs and Kavan McCullagh. Necton sit in second place after a 3-0 win at home to Harts. Daniel Holman and Nigel Colman were the pick of the scorers for Necton. Hethersett Athletic and Micawbers Tavern also won games as both beat Swaffham Town to sit in third and fourth respectively. Y.B.V Costessey United remain top of the pile in League Three with a 4-1 win against Morley & Deopham. Sam Mallett scored a brace with Karl Spurdon and Thomas Gard also amongst the goals. Morley & Deopham did win their first game of the season after a 2-0 win away at Erpingham United. John Parry and Steve Roberts both scored one a piece to sit their team in fifth place. Upcoming Fixtures

We have 8 fixtures this weekend on the 16th before the Christmas break. In the New Year we have 9 fixtures on the 6th before 9 games on the 13th. All of the fixtures are on Full Time here.

Referee Reviews

Just like last month we now take a look at the referees marks given by clubs. We have had a number of good marks from clubs over the last month with Kevin Slater, Chris Brown and Jason Ding receiving the highest marks. Chris Brown, Darren Syder and Matt Hudson lead the way with the highest overall marks so far this season.

Veterans Cup – Quarter Final Draw

The draw for the Quarter Finals of the Veterans Cup was made last week live on the Norfolk County FA Twitter feed with 6 teams from the league competing in the next round. The draw sees the following ties take place on the 27th January.
  • Norton Athletic v Diss Heywood Vets
  • Cringleford Veterans v Tavern Old Boys
  • Quebec Vets v Thetford Town
  • Easton St Faiths v Horsford
Norwich V Ipswich
 
Just a reminder for teams with games on the 10th February that the East Anglian Derby is taking place. If one of the teams with a fixture on that day wishes to move that game then the league will sanction this. Teams have until 25th January otherwise the game will take place as normal.
