Horsford continue their 100% win record in the Leathes Prior Veterans League

After a very scrappy opening few minutes both teams were able to quickly settle into the game and begin to create chances. The opening goal came when a long ball forward from the Horsford defence fell at the feet of Danny McKail. McKail hit the ball on the half volley from 35 yards out and lobbed the goalkeeper.

Thetford went on the offensive from the resulting kick off and started to put balls into the Horsford box. However, they were unable to capitalise on any of the pressure they had built up.

As the first half approached its end Horsford really upped the tempo. They scored another three goals before the half ended with the pick of the bunch being a free kick struck from 25 yards out from Grant Holt.

Half Time – Horsford Veterans 4-0 Thetford Town Veterans

Horsford started the second half the same way they finished the first, looking for goals. A long free kick from deep allowed Holt to win a header and set up his strike partner, Roy Bevis. Bevis then put the ball into the back of the net leaving the Thetford goalkeeper no chance.

After conceding the fifth goal, Thetford really started to apply pressure to the Horsford goal. They forced good saves and clearances before finally scoring in the 80^th minute with Steven Davis latching onto a through ball and delicately chipping the ball over the on-rushing goalkeeper.

In the dying minutes Bevis added a sixth with some good build up play and a composed finish into the net. This victory means that Horsford have now won all six of their league matches.

It was great to see Players, Managers, Supporters and the Referee supporting the Rainbow Laces campaign during the fixture.
