Cornwall U18's Vs Norfolk U18's
Under 18's Travel to take on Cornwall
Norfolk County FA start their defence of the FA County Youth
Cup this weekend when they make the long Journey to Cornwall to face Cornwall
FA’s Under 18 Representative Squad.
The management team, headed up by Norfolk County FA Chief Executive Gavin Lemmon, have selected a strong squad of players to represent Norfolk in this second round match after two trial evenings held at theFDC, Bowthorpe.
Norfolk arguably head into the competition as one of the favourites as they won the title last year after beating Staffordshire 2-0 in the final at the Bet 365 Stadium, home of Stoke City Football Club. Norfolk will be used to having to travel long distances in this competition as they were victorious away to Northumberland and the Isle of Man en route to the final last year.
After receiving a bye in the first round, Norfolk knew they
would play either Cornwall or Bedfordshire in the second round. Cornwall
overcame Bedfordshire comfortably beating them by 5 goals to nil to set up this
second round tie to be played this weekend.
Lemmon spoke of his excitement of the task ahead "We are really looking forward to this season's competition which sees us attempt to be the first County FA to ever retain the national cup.
We want representing the County FA to be a positive experience for the players and one that they enjoy being part of. We'll be asking them to play with no fear and to go out and express themselves."
The game kicks off at 11:00am at
Kellaway Park this Saturday. The Representative squad will be leaving for
Cornwall from theFDC, Bowthorpe early Friday Morning. You can follow the game
