County Cup Finals coming up
The destination of six Norfolk County Cups is still unknown with four Finals being held at Carrow Road and two at theFDC, Bowthorpe.
Norfolk Sunday Senior
Cup
El Sol vs Riverside Rovers
Sunday 28th April – 11:00am – Carrow Road
The Norfolk Sunday Senior Cup has been won by Windmill in the previous two years but this year’s finalists, El Sol, knocked out the holders in the Quarter-Finals. Riverside Rovers needed penalties to overcome Acle Rangers in the Semi-Finals but have been brilliant in the League this season. In the Norwich & District Sunday League Premier Division they are joint top but have four games in hand over other sides. They are on course to finish the season undefeated and winning all their matches.
Norfolk Women’s Cup
King’s Lynn Town vs Wymondham Town
Sunday 28th April – 3:30pm – Carrow Road
Wymondham will be aiming to defend their title as they beat Acle United in last year’s Final at the FDC. This will be the first Norfolk Women’s Cup Final to be played at the home of Norwich City, Carrow Road. Wymondham faced last year’s finalists, Acle United, in the Semi-Final and required penalties to beat them. King’s Lynn Town have beaten tough opposition in the form of Sprowston, Tavern Ladies, Sprowston Athletic and Thorpe United to reach the Final.
Norfolk Senior Cup
Dereham Town vs Thetford Town
Tuesday 30th April – 7:30pm – Carrow Road
Despite Dereham not performing brilliantly in the League this season they have had a good Cup run as they have beaten Acle United 6-1, Diss Town 6-0 and Swaffham Town 6-1. Thetford needed extra-time to come past Mattishall in the Semi-Finals at theFDC, Bowthorpe. Dereham compete in a higher League but Thetford have proved that on their day they can beat anyone.
Norfolk Junior Cup
Gorleston Reserves vs Sprowston Athletic
Wednesday 1th May – 7:30pm – Carrow Road
Both Gorleston Reserves and Sprowston Athletic compete in the Anglian Combination Division 2, they currently occupy the top two positions in the League. They have met twice in the League this season with both teams winning a game each. In the Cup both sides required extra-time to come past their opponents in the Semi-Finals, showing that the quality of this year’s Junior Cup has been very high.
Norfolk Veterans Cup
Horsford vs Tavern Old Boys
Friday 3rd May – 7:30pm – the FDC
Returning finalists Horsford will be looking to lift the Veterans Cup again after previously winning it in 2016. They lost in last year’s Final to a strong Cringleford side by four goals to one. Horsford are undefeated in the Leathes Prior Veterans League Premiership and have also beaten Tavern Old Boys twice in the League. Tavern have previously lost in three Semi-Finals before this season, they came past Norton Athletic to reach this year’s Final.
The High Altitude
U12’s Cup
Reffley Youth vs Costessey Sports
Friday 17th May – 7:30pm – the FDC
Reffley Youth and Costessey Sports will be the first two teams to compete for the High Altitude U12’s Cup as the competition is in its first season. Costessey Sports compete in the Norfolk Combined Youth Football League Premiership and currently sit third with games in hand over the teams above them. Reffley compete in the Peterborough and District Junior League U12 Division 1, they currently sit 8th having won 5 of their 17 league games.
