Leathes Prior Veterans League Bulletin - Matchday 7
Easton St Faiths moved up to third in the Championship after a 5-1 win against Cottage. Chris Hayes scored a brace with Tim Wickham and Eddie Jack also on the scoresheet. Mattishall Wanderers and Mulbarton Wanderers played out a 2-2 draw to leave both teams in fifth and second place respectively. Francois Ruiz and Cade Todd scored the goals for Mattishall with Tom Halliwell and Ian Babb yet again getting amongst the goals. Babb has now scored 20 goals this season in just 7 games! Mattishall then secured all three points a week later with a 2-0 win away at bottom side Wymondham Town. Gavin Bland and Justin Williams were the scorers on the day. The last game of the month came from Scole as they drew 0-0 to Mulbarton. Scole remain fourth having claimed their seventh point from seven games. Unthank Arms secured their second win of the season as they beat second place Sole & Heel to move four points clear of bottom side Wensum Albion. Dean Spary, Lee Tibbenham and James Bennett all added to their goalscoring accounts. Andrew Addle and Damion Vincent did score for Sole & Heel but it wasn’t enough as they suffered their third defeat of the campaign. Wensum Albion won their first game of the season at the seventh attempt as they came out on the right side of a 4-3 thriller with Cringleford. Chris Abbey scored a double for Wensum with Peter Gorbould and Richard Powell adding the third and fourth goals as they closed the gap on the teams above them. Sheringham extend their lead at the top of the table to four points with a 7-1 away win at Costessey Sports. Paul Massingham scored a brace with the other five goals coming from Chris Edmonds, Marcus Jimpson, Jeff Meggeson, Ben Smith and Seb Yaxley. Harts won their third game of the season with a 5-2 win away at Swaffham but did suffer defeat with a loss against Necton by 4 goals to 1. Matt Begg, James Chapman, Paul Siegert and Richard Smith all scored the goals to move Necton up to third. Hethersett Athletic remained top of the table with a 5-1 win against Necton.
