U14 Caister Cup Final, FDC Field of Dreams 14.05.19, KO 7pm
In the early stages of the game Sam Woollsey in the Thorpe goal was kept very busy having to make good saves against Alex Matos and Ken Abott. However Woollsey couldn’t keep out a venomous strike from the edge of the box from Matos, after 15 minutes.
Langley doubled their lead after 30 minutes when a cross from Charlie Hood on the left found the head of George Cavanagh Jillings at the far post and he had the simplest of tasks to head the ball home. Despite being two behind, Thorpe were still causing problems through Zach Bourner as his aggressive forwards runs were troubling he Langley defense.
Langley scored a third minutes in the second half when a forward run from Abott allowed him space to find a pass to Matos who couldn’t miss an empty goal two yards out. Langley’s fourth came when Abott scored his second after a well hit shot from a tight angle on the left.
Langley scored their final goal when Abott was tripped while running forward with the ball, a great advantage from the referee, Alex Melton, meant he could still get his shot away and find the bottom corner.
