Norfolk FA enters ground-breaking AI partnership

A Danish sport recording and analysis company has shown support for grassroots football in the County by sponsoring Norfolk FA’s official media brand, NCFA TV.

Based in Copenhagen, Veo specialises in football match recording and analysis. The Veo camera uses artificial intelligence to cleverly film and piece together footage captured by two lenses, allowing teams to ‘record without a cameraman’.

By tracking both the ball and players, the machine can provide extensive in-depth analysis that may not have been possible for grassroots teams before.

The collaboration will see Norfolk FA and Veo, enter into a mutually beneficial partnership which will see the use of the company’s revolutionary camera for Norfolk FA fixtures and the device promoted to grassroots clubs around the County at a reduced price.

Veo recently filmed Norfolk FA’s Under 18’s Representative Squad trials and the management team were able to view the footage and experience the post-match analysis dashboard, first hand.

Norfolk U18’s Manager and Norfolk FA Chief Executive, Gavin Lemmon said: ““We’re delighted to welcome Veo on board as one of our official partners and I’m extremely excited that we are able to make this fantastic device available to grassroots clubs.

“The world of analysis is no longer associated with just the professional game, with capturing footage becoming increasingly important at many levels of football. We will be using the device this season with the U18’s and I’m excited to explore its functionality further.”

Market Manager (UK) at Veo, Oli Perkins said: "After visiting the Norfolk FA and realising how dedicated they were to creating communities around football and developing talent, a partnership was an absolute no-brainer.

“We hope that through this partnership we can continue to democratize video across football in the UK, improving player experience, talent and participation."

The Veo camera removes the need for teams to find another volunteer or pay for somebody to operate a camera each week. It’s easy to set up, waterproof and the tripod is sturdy, making it suitable for nearly all-weather conditions.

The device can be controlled by a smartphone; however, the intelligent technology even recognises half time, and automatically stops recording to save battery.

Norfolk FA’s Marketing Manager, Rebecca Burton, who is also a local coach, commented on the impact the product’s analysis tools could have on grassroots football: “Veo’s intelligent dashboard is a real ‘game changer’. It not only sews pieces of footage together to create post-match highlights, but it allows a coach to review goals and key moments with a just click on an automatically generated time line.

“The panoramic lenses also allow for different view functions, enabling the user to drag the camera around during playback to focus on areas away from the ball. The product’s technology and accessibility present a real first for the grassroots game.”

As part of the partnership, Norfolk clubs will be able to receive a £100 discount on the product using the code 100norfolk. To learn more about VEO, please visit https://www.veo.co/.
