Statement: The FA County Youth Cup

Norfolk FA are today in a position to announce the conclusion of the 2019-20 FA County Youth Cup.

Norfolk FA have today been informed by The FA that the final of The FA County Youth Cup 2019-20 competition will not be played. The FA Youth Participation & Development Committee has supported the recommendation of the Chair and Vice Chair to terminate the 2019-20 FA County Youth Cup Competition. Therefore, the 2019-20 competition will be shared between both finalists, Norfolk and Sussex. The Norfolk team have been contacted regarding this decision.

The FA have also confirmed that there will be no 2020/21 FA County Youth Cup competition. This meaning, we will not be running an U18 Representative Squad for the 2020-21 season.

Both of these decisions are subject to ratification by The FA Council.

Norfolk started the 2019-20 FA County Youth Cup away to Northumberland FA on Saturday 4 January 2020 and returned home with a 4-0 victory. Norfolk were rewarded with another away trip in the next round to West Riding FA on Saturday 18 January where they entered the Semi-Finals by winning 3-1 thanks to goals from Baird, Pipe and Pascoal. Norfolk then faced Essex FA on a cold Friday evening in February at theFDC, Field of Dreams and with two first half goals were able to beat Essex 2-1.
