Walking Football Tournament at The FDC

The FDC, Bowthorpe hosted The FDC Walking Football Xmas Cup 2021, this week.

Teams from across the County took part in the tournament organised by Norfolk County FA. The eight competing teams were split into two group stages, with the winners and runners-up progressing to the semi-final stages. The final League standings are below:

Group A

  • 1st. Norwich Soca Seniors Wanderers
  • 2nd. Norwich Soca Seniors United
  • 3rd. King’s Lynn Yellows
  • 4th. Watton Vikings

Group B

  • 1st. Norwich City Over 60’s
  • 2nd. Norwich Soca Seniors Rangers
  • 3rd. Norwich Soca Seniors Athletic
  • 4th. King’s Lynn Reds

Norwich City Over 60’s faced Norwich Soca Seniors United in the Semi-Finals and progressed to the final by scoring the only goal of the game. The other Semi-final wasn’t as closely fought as Norwich Soca Seniors Wanderers scored three without reply against Norwich Soca Senior Rangers.

The final was a one-sided affair in terms of possession and chances but there is only one stat that matters. Norwich City Over 60’s failed to make the most of their chances as Mark Reeve scored the winning goal for Norwich Soca Seniors Wanderers with practically the last kick of the game, giving his side the victory.

A good day was had by everyone with all games played in a great spirit and celebratory festive snacks devoured afterwards.
