County Cup football, as you’ve never seen it before...

We are delighted to launch a new Norfolk FA Cups and Competitions brand.

As the end of the 21/22 season approaches, with it arrives the busiest period of the Norfolk Football calendar, with 11 County Cup finals on the horizon.

For 2022, the finals of the competitions will be visible in a new light by the thousands of people that spectate, coach, referee and compete in the fixtures, as we introduce a new brand collection to promote each of our cups.

The Norfolk County Cups brand collection represents a front facing, umbrella identity to highlight and promote the Cups and Competitions strand of Norfolk County Football Association.

The new brand for Norfolk’s County Cup competitions sits within the larger portfolio of Norfolk FA and FDC themes, designed to disseminate information, engage with stakeholders, and ultimately develop the local grassroots game.

County Cup football continues to be ever popular in Norfolk, with the creation of two new competitions in the last three seasons to accommodate increased demand; and this new branding ensures that the County Cups are recognisable and engaging for everyone involved in Norfolk football.

Norfolk County FA Head of Marketing & Communications, Rebecca Burton said: "Every year we have the conversation about how the County Cup finals branding will look and it’s great to now be in the position of having a full brand structure in place that will support the competitions from start to finish, for seasons to come.

“The simplicity of the logo design gives off a clean and modern feel, whilst the flexibility of the brand profiles allows for us to be creative and dynamic, as well as give recognition to our partners. A lot of thought has gone into the development of this new identity, from the style of the trophies, to the colour palettes used, and the crop shapes within the secondary branding design.

“We hope that this new strand of our Association branding can reinvigorate a sense of excitement across Norfolk’s County Cups moving forward.”

CUP IDENTITY

The updated Norfolk County Cup competitions crest incorporates a modernised silhouette of the locally famous Norfolk Senior Cup.

The trophy has been simplified and streamlined to become more contemporary and accessible when concerning design, however, has been hand drawn digitally to maintain an element of integrity associated to the nostalgia of the competition.

The Senior Cup is Norfolk FA’s oldest competition with it first being competed for in 1881 and has developed to become extremely recognisable by the Norfolk football family.

Following on from the overarching Cups and Competitions theme, each competition then its own variation of the brand as a crest, featuring the specific trophy in question, again modernised and in silhouette form.

Each competition as well as the overarching brand can be coupled with FS Dillon lettering to form a full set of logos. For sponsored cups, a partner’s branding can be incorporated easily into the design to increase awareness and presence throughout the competition.

A COUNTY INSPIRED

Drawing from our local heritage, links with The FA, and our continuous aspiration to be a modern and forward thinking County FA; we have developed a new overarching set of themes that can further engage with those involved in our County Cup competitions.

We have utilised aspects of The FA’s excellent and well-received England Football branding to highlight our links to the National Governing Body as well as our passion for the grassroots game, particularly within our County.

The Norfolk FA crest, which is based upon the Norfolk County Council Arms, features via colours and secondary branding. In addition, the Norfolk lion has been used to create design aspects and textures.

These aspects of our history and an accent palette featuring our partners, facilities, the Norfolk County Flag, and even a nod to Norwich City FC, help to broaden the look and feel of the brand as well as create impact.
