The Wensum Print Sunday Junior Cup Final 2021-22

Either Young Boys or Jubilee will lift the Wensum Print Sunday Junior Cup this season after both reaching the final last month.

Young Boys FC were formed this season and compete in the Norwich & District Sunday League Sponsored by The Oaks Bar and Terrace, Division 3. Since their formation, they are yet to lose a game and have only drawn once, which was against their opponents in a 5-5 draw last November. Having already been crowned their Division Champions and also in their League Cup Final, they will be aspiring to win everything they entered this season. After receiving a Home Walkover in the First Round and convincingly beating Norman Wanderers ‘A’ 6-0 in the Second, they faced Norton Athletic in the Quarter-Finals. This proved to be a tougher task as the newly formed team were trailing after 45 minutes. However, goals in the second half from Billy Wenn and Harry Blossom gave them the victory. Another 2-1 scoreline against last season’s finalists, FC Steamers, mean that they enter the final and will be confident of lifting the trophy.

When asked about the final, Young Boys’ Manager, Matthew Goose said: “We haven’t actually lost a game all season so that speaks volumes for itself. We are hoping to win the treble this season and the same again for the following season. Being there with the lads you’ve grown up with, you can’t wish for better than that! Winning means everything to us. We’re coming for all the trophies and this is just the start.”

Jubilee also ply their trade in the Norwich & District Sunday League Sponsored by The Oaks Bar and Terrace, Division 3, where they have finished in third place. They have won 75% of their matches this season having only lost to Young Boys and FC Steamers in the League and their opposition in the League Cup. Jubilee’s route to the final has been a real mix with wins against Horsford and Hempnall in the opening rounds, followed by a penalty shootout victory over Cringleford in the Quarter-Finals. They then beat lower Division opposition, Hasbeens United, in the Semi-Finals 12-2. Knowing that they are capable of scoring heavily at times, they will be looking to entertain the Harrod Sport Arena crowd.

When asked about the final, Jubilee FC Manager, Aiden Boyce said: “With multiple teams dropping out of our league, it’s been really important that we do well in the Cup Competitions. Reaching the final has been a key aim for us this year. We will treat the game the same as any other important occasion. The only difference to league games is certain players won’t be turning up after kick off for the final!”
