The Norfolk U12's Cup Final 2021-22
The Norfolk U12’s Cup Final 2021-22
The Norfolk Under 12’s Cup is in its fourth season of competition. Last year saw King’s Lynn Soccer Club take on Wroxham in the final, with the Yachtsmen lifting the silverware following a 4-1 scoreline. On Friday 27 May, Attleborough Town will face Horsford with both teams battling it out to lift the trophy. The final kicks off at 7:30pm at Harrod Sport Arena.
Both sides compete in the Norfolk Combined Youth Football League, Premier League. Horsford have been crowned champions as they are unbeaten at the top of the table with a 4-point lead over second place with one game to go. Attleborough are chasing a third-place finish with one game left to play. The first meeting of the season produced a 1-1 stalemate between the sides. The teams will face off twice more, once more in the league and at Harrod Sport Arena to battle it out for the Norfolk U12's Cup.
The first round saw Attleborough enjoy a bye, and Horsford awarded a walkover. The second round of the competition saw more action with Horsford winning 11-0 and Attleborough beating Easton to progress to the third round of the competition. Once again, both teams gave strong performances in the quarter-final with Horsford defeating Dersingham Rovers and Attleborough overcoming Tasburgh United. Horsford secured their ticket to the final with an away win on penalties against Dereham Town Youth after a 1-1 draw in normal time. Attleborough enjoyed a less dramatic fixture with a 2-1 scoreline against Gorleston Tornados.
When asked about their Team, Attleborough Town’s Patrick Snowsell said: “This group of U12s have been together for a few years now and are a really good group, and we are thrilled to see them in the County Cup Final. Win or lose, we look forward to seeing them develop as a team, and hopefully many of them will find their way into our adult First Team in years ahead!”
Horsford Manager, Gavin Dunmow, spoke ahead of the Final: “The final is hugely important to us as a Club, we all pull together with every coach offering support to each other. A team making a County Cup Final is recognition of all the hard work the Club do, not just the individual team. I would also like to congratulate both sets of players for making a County Cup Final. It’s a great achievement and hopefully we will see a great game of football.”
Given the results so far this season and the cup journeys of each side, the Norfolk Under 12s Cup Final fixture will be expected to be a close occasion.
