STRONG START FOR NEW VETS PROVISIONS

In November, Norfolk FA launched two new 6v6 Veterans Leagues running on alternate Thursday evenings at The FDC, Bowthorpe.

The Legacy League is for women aged 30 & over and has created a welcoming yet still competitive environment for individuals to play the sport and enjoy socialising around other likeminded people.

NCFA Supervets is for men aged 45 & over and has allowed for an environment that is positive and reignites the competitive spark which so many have missed!

So far, both Leagues have been a huge success with seven teams playing in both, each averaging with squads of 11 players who turn up to play. Feedback has emphasised how needed this provision was to allow for the missing gap in the football player pathway to be filled and exactly how the Leagues have achieved just this.

Football Development Officer, Tayla Woodhouse said: "There has been a huge amount of work put in to get these Leagues up and running, and to give accessibility for more individuals to play football. It has been hugely rewarding seeing how the teams have come together and created an environment that ultimately allows for everyone to feel comfortable even with the competition to win games still being there! The support and guidance players have given to one another even when there are differences in ability has been a pleasure to watch, and I feel as though this gives the opportunity for these provisions to continue to grow."
