Although we are at the home of Norwich City FC, the home side drawn out of the hat for tonight’s Final is Mulbarton Wanderers. They return to The Harrod Sport Women’s Cup Final for a third season running after finishing as runners up the past two seasons. They will be looking to get revenge on their opponents in what is a repeat Final of the 2020/21 season. Mulbarton Wanderers have had another good campaign which has seen them crowned champions of Division One of the Norfolk Women’s & Girls Football League with one game to play. They have had fifteen wins and two draws from seventeen games and will be looking to cap off an excellent season with a County Cup Trophy.

When asked about the final, Mulbarton Wanderers FC Manager, Martin Francis said: “Firstly, we’re definitely very aware of how fortunate we are and the value of being involved in such a game, considering the level of competition and the strong challenges we’ve had to overcome to reach this stage. This is the highest-level competition we are in, so to progress and now be able to compete in such a prestigious game is huge. We’ve worked so hard in getting here and we’ll be doing exactly the same to perform in the game and give a good representation of the team and hopefully make the club proud.”

The away team tonight is Norwich City as they will be playing their first Harrod Sport Women’s Cup Final at Carrow Road. When they last reached the Final in 2020/21 the game was hosted at The FDC due to the COVID pandemic. They will be looking to make it two County Cup trophies in three years after they beat tonight’s opponents Mulbarton Wanderers 7-0 in that Final at The FDC. Norwich City play at Tier 4 in the women’s game, competing in the South East Division One of the FA Women’s National League. They finished the season in fourth place with nine wins, three draws and six losses. They too will be looking to round their season off with silverware.

When speaking about the final, Norwich City FC Manager, Shaun Howes said: “Reaching the County Cup final should be a target for any club, as it was for us. It is a great achievement and validation for all the hard work the players and coaches have put in this season, hopefully we can cap it off with a performance worthy of winning and competition. Norfolk FA always make their County Cup Finals a memorable occasion and I am sure this will be no different. The day is about the players and for them to have an opportunity to play at Carrow Road, in front of hopefully a really big crowd is reward for their efforts throughout the season.”
