The Norfolk Junior Cup Final 2024

In its 125th season, the Norfolk Junior Cup Final marks the tenth Norfolk County Cup final this year. The match will be contested between Watlington Sports & Social Club and Dersingham Rovers on Friday 10 May with a 7:30pm kick off. Tickets are available to purchase online.

This evening’s home side, Watlington Sports & Social Club, currently compete in Division Four of the Anglian Combination League (sponsored by Foster Solicitors). Winning the league and welcoming promotion, the team finished top of the table on 67 points. After a first-round bye, their cup campaign commenced at home against Terrington Tigers Youth, beating the opposition 2-0. It was then another 2-0 victory at home, this time against Great Yarmouth Town Reserves, that saw them through to the Quarter Final where they knocked out Sprowston Reserves 2-1. Securing them a place in this year’s final, the team came out victorious over competitors Feltwell United two goals to one.

When asked how it feels to reach the final, Watlington Sports & Social Cub Manager, Andrew Brydon said: “Reaching the Final is a massive achievement for the club, after narrowly missing out on last year’s final we knew going into this season’s competition we had the team to go one better, the lads have put in a fantastic effort all season and deserve the chance tonight.”

Dersingham Rovers also concluded the season with promotion secured, finishing second place on 49 points in the Anglian Combination League, Division Two. Despite winning a total of 15 games, they missed out on the title to Mutford & Wrentham who finished ahead on 65 points. Dersingham Rovers got their cup campaign off to a strong start with a 15-2 win at home against Belton, before yet another substantial victory saw them through to the third-round, this time 7-0 against Marshland Saints. They then went on to beat Blofield United Reserves 5-0, before travelling to see a 3-1 away win at North Walsham Town. After knocking out Stalham Town two goals to nil in the Quarter Final, one goal was all that was needed to enter the final when they came up against Reepham Town in the Semi Final.

When speaking about what reaching the final meant to him and the club, Dersingham Rovers Manager, Harry Collison said: “Reaching the Junior Cup Final has been something we have aspired to do ever since reforming. Lots of hours and effort goes on behind the scenes and it's great for the club to celebrate reaching to County Finals this season. It makes all the stress and hours put in worthwhile.”
