Deadline approaching for U19 Divisions

We’re welcoming expressions of interest from prospective teams, to participate in one of the U19 Development Divisions that are set to launch for next season.

The introduction of U19 Development Divisions will see an entirely new provision for clubs and players in Norfolk, bridging the gap between youth and adult football.

Research recently undertaken in Norfolk has shown that the number of players making the transition from U16 Youth Football to Adult Football is dwindling, prompting us to develop a programme that aims to entice players finishing in youth football to continue participating in the game. We want to encourage these young players to carry on, in an environment that is developmental and will continue to prepare and equip them for the Adult game. Three over age players will be eligible to play alongside those meeting the U19 age bracket, enabling vital experience to be passed on.

Five leagues have been sanctioned to host an U19 Development Division for the 2013/14 season, with a maximum of 12 teams apiece. These being the:

  • Anglian Combination League
  • Norwich District Saturday League
  • Kings Lynn & District Sunday
  • Norfolk & Suffolk Youth League
  • Norwich & District Sunday League

The next step is for Clubs interested in entering to complete and return and expression of interest form, a copy of which is attached below.

Clubs are required to submit these to Laurence York, Norfolk FA’s Football Development Officer (Adult), by 5pm on 31 May 2013.

After receiving completed forms, Norfolk FA will distribute to the respective Leagues and Clubs will then be contacted directly by their chosen League.
