CBS commit to FDC future

Norwich CBS, of the Thurlow Nunn League – First Division North, have returned to The FDC to play on the brand new 3G Stadia pitch, The FDC Arena.

Having previously plied their trade on the facility’s then grass pitch, the Field of Dreams, they will now join Wymondham Town Ladies and become one of the resident clubs to call the new 3G AGP (Artificial Grass Pitch) home.

Norwich CBS originally moved to play at The Football Development Centre (The FDC) in Norwich at the start of the 2017-18 season, when they relocated from Spixworth. They have enjoyed five campaigns in the Eastern Counties league and will be hoping that their 6th season in Bowthorpe is better than ever.

With renovation work starting at the centre on Monday 8th November 2021, CBS played their last match on the FDC’s Field of Dreams on the Saturday prior against Huntingdon Town, a game in which they won 5-2. A fitting final victory as a send-off to the pitch that had become associated to many recent but fond memories for the team.

Saturday 2nd April marked their return, and it was a case of deja-vu as they ran out 5-2 winners against Needham Market Res. CBS will play their last game of the regular season on Tuesday 5th April where they host UEA, where victory against the U’s will confirm a place in the play offs.

Spectators are welcome to support the club on Tuesday night as they push to achieve their aspirations of promotion to Step 5; as well visit the new facilities and enjoy a great matchday experience under the lights at The FDC.

Craig Collison, Secretary of Norwich CBS, said: “We were delighted to return to The FDC on Saturday and continue our good form in the League. The new Arena pitch and facilities are looking incredible, with all players saying that the pitch plays really well.

“We are hoping with results going our way that we can be playing Step 5 football at The FDC next season and welcome spectators to come and visit us. It’s not just on the pitch as both the new hospitality unit and snack box will allow us to better host guests and provide refreshments for supporters.

“It’s great to be back home!”

Norfolk County FA Chief Executive, Matt Carpenter, added: “We are delighted to welcome Norwich CBS back to The FDC and it was great to see them compete in the first fixture on our brand new 3G stadia pitch.

“We’re extremely proud of our new facility and I was delighted to hear the positive feedback from that first game. I wish the club all the best for the rest of this season, and 22/23."
