Costessey Sports to call The FDC home

Costessey Sports FC, one of Norfolk’s largest grassroots Football Clubs, have become a Partner Club of The FDC and Harrod Sport Arena.

Costessey Sports are an England Football Accredited Club based in west Norwich and facilitate both competitive and recreational football for hundreds of local footballers, as well as has an army of volunteers who support their Club in multiple capacities. They currently boast two open-aged Male teams, two Veterans’ sides, a Women’s team and over twenty youth teams.

Harrod Sport Arena, at The FDC in Bowthorpe, was officially opened earlier this month and multiple Costessey teams were in attendance to train on the pitch during the official opening. A 9v9 Girls friendly match was taking place as well as training for both Under 11s and Under 7s teams.

The renovated main FDC building, and newly opened Harrod Sport Arena will mean that The FDC is perfectly suited to host both youth and adult football.

Dan Henry, Chairperson of Costessey Sports FC, said: “We at Costessey Sports Club are delighted to have such a fantastic facility as The FDC on our doorstep. The addition of Harrod Sport Arena means we can offer our players incredible facilities to train and play matches on, which will in turn help us to continue to develop them and grow our Club. We have already won two trophies on the pitch, so remain unbeaten. Something that we hope will continue!”

Norfolk County FA Chief Executive, Matt Carpenter, added: “Various Costessey Sports teams have trained at The FDC in previous seasons, so we are delighted to welcome even more Costessey youth age groups and adults and to train at our centre.

“The recent opening of Harrod Sport Arena will also mean that lots more Costessey teams can play their competitive matches and make use of the brilliant facilities."
